Thinking About Remodeling Your Bathroom

Many people thinking about remodeling their bathroom are looking for a suitable bathroom tile design that complements their home; an idea of what style you are looking for before you choose will always save some time. Cost is always an issue, but there are many designs available and at all price ranges. Some tile designs are more desirable than others including those that are more traditional like stone, Italian marble and the famous harlequin design but colorful tiles are also becoming more popular.

My timeless favorite is the harlequin bathroom tile which are small black squares turned to look like diamonds in a grid pattern on a plain white tile. Sometimes these tiles are available in other colors but the traditional black and white oblong tile is the most popular and effective.

Despite the color choices it is the traditional black on white that provides the best finish and is usually the easiest to buy without having to place a special order. A bathroom will look clean and shiny, and by adding a chrome tub and shower faucet to the mix will give the area a fresh, shimmering glow which is ideal for the bath area.

Although this gives a stunning effect, chrome is renowned for leaving fingerprints so may require daily cleaning. This effect however, may not seem so wonderful if you have to spend time polishing the fixings everyday.

But it is the classic white tile with small black squares which is my favorite which has a much cleaner look and is normally available without having to place a special order. Marble has always been a more expensive bathroom tile design option but has a timeless quality which the more modern tiles will never match.

Anyone who has shopped for bathroom tiles knows that some materials and patterns can be very expensive. You can work around this expense by using reasonably priced material as the foundation for your design. Add a little character and spark with more expensive tiles here and there and you get a rich look at a fraction of the cost.

Unless you have tiled a room before, this is probably not a good time to learn so it will be worth the additional cost of having a tradesman carry out this task if you want it to look good. Of course you will save a great deal of money if you carry out the tiling yourself. If there are problems, it will waste time and if then you have to bring in a professional, it will cost considerably more to finish your bathroom remodeling project.
